Ron Tyler
PT, MS, CCI, SME, COMT, JAOHB
My name is Ron Tyler, but my clients call me Dr. Ron. With over three decades of experience in the field of Osteopathic Physical Therapy, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people regain functional mobility after injury, surgery, or simply the wear and tear of life. My journey into Osteopathic Physical Medicine began as a competitive gymnast, where injuries sparked my interest in the body’s biomechanics and healing processes.
I graduated with a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Andrews University, Berrien Springs, MI, in June 1989, where I focused on spinal mobilization, musculoskeletal disorders, and neuromuscular retraining under the guidance of renowned Norwegian Osteopathic Physical Therapist, Dr. Bjorn W. Svendsen, DHSc, PT, FFAAOMPT. I also hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy Physiology and Exercise Physiology from the same institution, where I also explored business management, small business development, marketing, and advertising.
In addition to my academic background, I hold several professional certifications, including Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT), Washington Spinal & Joint Manipulation Endorsement (SME), and Certified Clinical Instructor (CCI). I am a proud member of respected organizations like the North American Institute of Manual Therapy (NAIOMT), American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT).
Over the years, I’ve honed my expertise in manual therapy, tissue unloading, and reprogramming the body’s movement patterns. The human body operates like a machine, with three core systems—muscular, skeletal, and nervous—that must work in harmony to achieve pain-free movement. I specialize in integrating these systems to improve functional mobility, and I’ve had the privilege of helping thousands of clients enhance their quality of life by learning to move properly.
While some diagnoses may limit full recovery, I firmly believe every body has the potential for functional improvement with the right approach. I also believe surgery is sometimes necessary, but I emphasize ensuring proper movement and tissue pliability both before and after a procedure to optimize recovery.
Why Are My Outcomes Better?
- I focus on getting you out of the clinic faster and smarter.
- I coach you to be consistently committed to your recovery.
- You’ll work directly with me, not a rotating team of therapists.
- My approach integrates holistic practices for long-term improvement.
- Your program is tailored specifically to you—no one-size-fits-all solutions.
- After discharge, I’m always available for questions and continued support.
I see my clients as more than just patients—they’re part of a community. We believe everyone deserves to live pain-free, and I’m committed to providing the highest quality of care through continuous education and personalized treatment. Whether serving as a clinical instructor for physical therapy and osteopathic students or participating in charitable initiatives like the Gig Harbor Waterfront Farmers Market, my dedication to both professional growth and social responsibility remains unwavering.
Let’s work together to get your life of movement back. I’m here to help you regain the quality of life you deserve.
